We found these beautiful swallows last May in Paris on a crumbling old sample card. The accompanying notes indicate the piece was originally created in 1879. The graceful, curved lines of the wings and body and the astonishing detail in the individual feathers embody the kind of top-quality craftsmanship we look for in the best pieces from this era. We hand-cast them in our studio and applied a medium antiquing to enhance the detail. These are actually two different birds (left facing and right facing) that form a mirror image when facing each other. Each bird dangles a fine quality round ivory cultured pearl. A silver bead embellishes the bottom. Silver earwires. Earrings measure 1 5/8 inches long. Matching necklace (on leather cord) is not included, but is available in another auction.
